PE

“Coach me and I will learn. Challenge me and I will grow. Believe in me and I will win.” Dr Robert Halgren

Hailey Primary School uses ‘The Power of P.E’ scheme of learning to deliver our PE curriculum. This enables us to provide challenging and enjoyable learning through a range of sporting activities including; Invasion Games, Net & Wall Games, Strike and Field Games, Gymnastics, Dance, Orienteering and Swimming.  The aim of ‘The Power of P.E’ is to help instil Physical Education at the heart of School life. This is  achieved by creating robust cross-curricular links in progressive P.E lessons. The Power of P.E Primary Planning will help teach a deep and broad curriculum of the highest quality!

Children participate in two PE lessons each week. Pegasus Class have two focus topics which allows them to build on the foundations of each sport, while KS1 and KS2 cover two areas of sport every half-term. Within the summer term, KS2 children use one of their PE sessions for swimming sessions.  The lessons allow children to build on their previous learning through a variety of games and drills, often allowing children to experience competition at some level, individually or in a team.

Extra Opportunities
-Children across the school have opportunities to participate in the local Witney School Sports Partnership events and Inter School sports competitions.
-Here at Hailey School, we have a House system and all children participate in Intra House Sports competitions, for one half-term each school year.
-All children in KS1 and KS2 have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular sports activities throughout the year.
-We offer a bi-annual Residential experience for all children in KS2.
-Some KS2 children receive Sports Leader training, which means they can successfully coordinate lunchtime sporting activities for the younger children.
