Music

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words.” Victor Hugo

At Hailey School we follow the Kapow Music Curriculum, which offers us a progressive, interactive way to teach music. Music is taught through the skills of listening and appraising, creating and exploring; and singing and performing. Each lesson includes activities based on these elements, as well as the opportunity to learn how to play a musical instrument. Children who already read and play musical instruments can have the chance to share their skills and talents as well. Children are introduced to a broad repertoire of music, including classical, world and popular music. We aim to help children to appreciate and understand the music from different eras and cultures, as well as give them the skills and creativity to compose and perform.

A high quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
